Paula Silha, Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Manager, has been named Health Care Worker of the Year for the 94th Assembly District by state Rep. Steve Doyle.
Silha has worked for the La Crosse County Health Department for 33 years and said she was honored and humbled to receive the award. Speaking at a recent county board meeting, Doyle said when considering candidates for the 94th Assembly District award, Paula’s name kept coming up.
"It’s just amazing the amount she has done for public health in La Crosse County,” added Doyle, who also sits on the county board.
Silha said she accepted the Hometown Heroes award on behalf of the team she works with and that public health was a passion for her.
"It gives me great joy to make a difference in our community," she said.
Silha has worked on many public health programs across her career at the Health Department and has had a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The last two years have really been a testament to the perseverance and tenacity of public health workers," she said.
