Unique collaboration between Hillview, National Guard eased pressure on local hospitals.
A remarkable partnership between Hillview Health Care Center and the Wisconsin National Guard ended in May.
The partnership saw National Guard soldiers deployed to Hillview, where they received training and worked in CNA positions. The extra hands allowed Hillview to admit patients from local hospitals who were at surge capacity due to COVID-19.
Over the course of the deployment, Hillview admitted 63 patients who needed skilled care, freeing up critical space at hospitals. Wisconsin National Guard Brig. Gen. Tim Covington presented a special plaque to Hillview near the end of the deployment in recognition of the county’s professionalism and collaborative spirit. Hillview Administrator Kelly Kramer and Hillview Director of Nursing Karlie Hurlbert are pictured above after being presented with the plaque.
At least three of the soldiers who were part of the deployment are now planning to seek full-time work at Hillview. Read more about the partnership by clicking this link.
