La Crosse County's programs benefited people in every part of our community in 2023.
La Crosse County Administrator Jane Klekamp gave a presentation at the January meeting of the county board looking back on some of the county's major accomplishments in 2023. The presentation also detailed the county's year-end financial condition.
The county's work in 2023 included:
--Serving thousands of meals to older adults
--Planting hundreds of trees
--Paving 8 miles of road
--Helping 83 people with substance use disorder treatment costs
--Supporting housing, child care, and farmland conservation projects
County staff also won several awards in 2023, highlighting the good work of all county employees. On the financial side, Klekamp noted that the county continues to have the fifth lowest tax levy per capita in Wisconsin. Among counties of a similar size, the county's tax levy is the second lowest. The county saw continued growth in sales tax revenue in 2023 and finished the year with healthy reserves and a reduction in our debt. View the full presentation here: https://adobe.ly/3vP93ww
