Lakeview Business Park, West Salem
Starting in the early 2000’s the La Crosse County Economic Development Fund partnered with the Village of West Salem to develop Lakeview Business Park. The development included installation or roads and sewer systems, connection to public utilities, and among other elements, a partnership with Canadian Pacific Railway to ensure on-site freight-rail transportation for the businesses within the business park.
As a result of those efforts:
-8 new businesses (not including Performance Food Service and First Supply)
-300 jobs
-$24,711,300 in new tax base
In 2023, Performance Foodservice broke ground on a new 30,000 square feet facility, that is expected to cost $25,000,000 and employ 100-150 individuals. In 2024, First Companies (First Supply) announced plans to build a cutting-edge, 308,000 square feet distribution center, expected to employ roughly 100 individuals.
WEDC Certified Sites
For the intention of retaining and/or recruiting new commercial or light industrial businesses to La Crosse County, the La Crosse County Economic Development Fund has partnered with the Village of Holmen and the La Crosse Area Development Corporation to achieve a “Certified Sites Status” that will make La Crosse County and particularly the Village of Holmen extremely competitive in recruiting new investment to our community. The Certified Sites designation is recognized on a national and international level. The process is nearly complete.
