Hello. Welcome to the La Crosse County Historic Sites Preservation Commission website. This website serves as an educational tool to inform people on what the purpose of the Commission is in La Crosse County. The Commission is a branch of the County government that works to protect, preserve, and nominate historic sites in La Crosse County. The Commission mainly deals with properties outside the County’s municipalities, but inside the townships.
If you feel you have a site or know of a site that is important to La Crosse County history, you may contact a member of the Commission, or click here to have a link to a nomination form. The Commission considers historic sites that are more than 50 years old and are considered to be important either by who designed/built it, who lived there, what it was used for, or what it can tell us about the past.
Featured properties (pictured above from left to right): Palmer-Gullickson house, Van Loon Truss Bridge, and Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church
