The La Crosse County Board of Supervisors is made up of 30 supervisors, all of whom stand for election at the same time every two years. At the beginning of their new terms, board members select a chair and two vice chairs. Chosen for 2024-26 were County Board Chair Tina Tryggestad, the 1st Vice Chair Kim Cable, and the 2nd Vice Chair David Pierce. Each supervisor is also a member of at least one of the County’s five Standing Committees:
The chairs of these Standing Committees make up the Executive Committee. Many supervisors also volunteer to serve on other county committees, councils and boards. The full board meets twice a month – a planning meeting and a monthly County Board meeting, which takes place on the third Thursday of each month. The County Board sets policy for the county, helps develop and approve the county budget, approves the hiring of all county staff, and approves appointments to all county committees.
We encourage citizen participation and invite county residents to complete an online application to indicate their interest in serving on a specific committee. Even if there are no current vacancies on the committee of choice, application information will be kept for future reference. As vacancies occur, we will reach out to citizens who have expressed interest.
La Crosse County is grateful for the civic engagement of so many citizens and their willingness to serve the county.
