A parade permit is needed when an organized event such as a parade, bicycle race or ride, procession, marathon, run/walk, etc. occurs on La Crosse County highways and roads. The application must be submitted no less than 15 days prior to the usage and, if less than 45 days before, such application must be made in person.

Requirements:

A completed parade permit application (Application Form)

  • $50.00 permit fee
  • Proof of Liability Insurance not less than $500,000 per occurrence or $1,000,000 annual aggregate. Said evidence of insurance shall include a certificate naming La Crosse County as an additional insured in connection with said usage.
  • A complete written route of the event (plus a route map and traffic safety/control plan).

  • Per County Ordinance 13.04(9)(a), any parade permit that is made less than 15 days in advance of the time the usage is scheduled to commence is a mandatory denial of permit.

Per County Ordinance 13.04(5), applications made less than 45 days prior to the day of the proposed usage must be made in person.

After the County Clerk has received all of the above required information and has consulted with the involved jurisdictions, a permit will be issued if approved.
