Community News & Event Announcements:

-Rock the Vets hosted by American Legion Post 417 is happening on Sunday, August 31st. Two stages, 7 hours of continual music, food, and beverages! Event happening rain or shine. For more info and to buy tickets go to their website at: ROCK THE VETS – WISCONSIN MUSIC FEST

-Monroe County Suicide Prevention Task Force is hosting their first annual Be The Light - Run/Walk on September 7th. Event starts at 10am at the Winnebago Park in Tomah, WI. 

-Team One Mile is hosting musical performances by Ashtyn Barbaree and Gaby Allong on September 8th at 5pm at The Freight House to support veterans, gold star children, and military families. Team One Mile will cycle over 700 miles in 5 days stopping along the way for live music and support! Go to their website at www.teamonemile.com to make a donation and see how you can support their mission.

-The VA is hosting the La Crosse Veterans Mini-Fair at their La Crosse CBOC on September 16, 2025, from 10am-2pm. See us there and meet with vendors from different departments at the VA! This is a free outdoor event. 

-Join us for the 2nd Annual Veteran's Benefits Check-Up! Meet with the La Crosse County Veteran Services staff, Tomah VA, and multiple different vendors from the La Crosse area. The first event will be held at the Holmen Community Center on Thursday, October 9th, from 8:30am-11am. The second event will be held at the Onalaska American Legion Post 336 on Saturday, October 11th, from 11am-2pm. We hope to see you there!

-Wisconsin's H.O.O.A.H. is hosting their 1st Annual Veteran Suicide Awareness March on Saturday, November 8th starting at 8am. Event information and registration can be found on their event website: Annual Veteran Suicide Awareness March

- Interested in getting a family membership at the YMCA? Sign up for Wellness Warriors (not an exercise class) at the Dahl Family YMCA! If you are interested in signing up for the next session, contact Anna Stindt at [email protected]

-Did you know Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region offers assistance on home repairs for veterans?  Repair Corps funding is a partnership between Habitat for Humanity International and Home Depot. Local Habitats are able to request these funds on a first-come, first-serve basis. Projects can provide repair work up to $18,000 in granted funding to make necessary repairs on homes owned by veterans. There are no income restrictions for eligibility. The current funding allocation must be used by Sept 30th, 2025. Please contact Lauren at [email protected] or call 608-785-2373 if interested.
