Access to Dental Care
La Crosse County Health Department is a partner with the Wisconsin Dental Pain Protocol (WDPP). After a person is seen in a local Emergency Department or Urgent Care Center, a referral is made to a Dental Care Coordinator. The Dental Care Coordinator helps people find dental care. This program is funded through Wisconsin Department of Health Services. For more information on the Wisconsin Dental Pain Protocol, click here.
School Absence Surveillance
La Crosse County Health Department works with our local school districts to stay aware of student and staff absences. The goal of this program is to know when illness is higher than usual so that we can all work to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in the schools and at home. This increases student attendance. Schools can enroll in the program by sending a request to [email protected].
How does this work? Each week, a school worker will report the number of respiratory and gastrointestinal related illness absences to the Health Department using an online form. At the end of the week, we send a report to schools. The report shares overall absence rates and lets schools know about specific illnesses going around. The report includes a graph to track trends and changes from week to week throughout the school year. It also contains resources for more information. See examples here.
